[ making it up as we go along ]

One of my favourite magazines - DAZED & CONFUSED - turned 20!

Reason to celebrate big time... or better twice.... in form of an anniversary book "Making It Up As We Go Along" and by putting on an exhibition at London's Somerset House. It's on until 29th of January... and if you can't make it to the UK, get at least the book which features the magazines most memorable visual stories ... it's a must have for every fashion/ photography lover!

[ FRIENDS forever ]

Reuse, Repurpose, Reinvent: That’s the mantra of bauble-making New York City based Best friends Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid. While traveling in Ecuador in late 2009 Herzog and Reid were inspired by the diverse array of intricate knotted friendship bracelets and were instantly reminded of their friendship bracelet making days at summer camp.
The duo, who met working in the fashion industry in New York, began to hand make bright detailed knotted friendship style bracelets and once back in New York they began combining them with pieces from their grandmothers’ vintage jewelry collections that they wore on a regular basis. The mix of the friendship bracelets and beautiful vintage created a new wonderful sophisticated line of jewelry. Frieda and Nellie is named in honor of the designer’s glamorous and creative grannies.

[ COVER me up ]

I know it's all about smart phones/ i-pads/ etc. these days... but somehow I can't imagine my life without my notebooks & diaries in form of booklets. Always loved the touch of paper & flipping pages.
Check out the perfect combination for the "past & future": Bound in Moleskine's traditional black shell, these covers have a suede inner lining to protect touch screens, plus an extra flap that holds a small or a large Moleskin notebook!

After devoting previous color stories to countries like Switzerland and Russia, OPI criss-crosses the U.S.A. for its new Touring America collection.
As always, I really love the names.... "Are we there yet?" - "My address is Hollywood" - "
Uh Oh Roll Down The Window" - " Honk If You Love OPI" - "Suzi Takes The Wheel"..........

[ trip to ALASKA ]

New York based label PVBLIC presents it's new Alaska inspired collection. Hoddies with fur trim, tees printed with totem pole graphics, traditional embroidery patterns... lots details of luxurious craftsmanship. I love those leather and suede medicine pouch necklaces!
T-shirts are a big part of their artistic heritage, the motives are hand-drawn by their in-house designers and artisans.
Better get one of these fluffy Coyote Beaded Hoodies before they are all sold out!

[ WRAP around ]

One of the things I can't have enough in my wardrobe (besides shoes!).... are SCARVES.
Summer or winter, I always carry one around with me, I think it's the perfect accessory and come in handy.
Check out the scarves from Athena Procopiou, her hand-drawn illustrations and intricate prints are inspired by everything from colourful fish of the Maldives to the enchanted forests of fairy tales & the films of Tim Burton. Mixing bohemian flair with a dose of mod sophistication, Procopiou intends for her scarves to immediately transform any ensemble. "I wear a lot of black", she sais. "And as soon as I put on a scarf, it livens the whole thing up".

[ peal & stick ]

Tempaper, a self adhesive temporary wallpaper, looks as good as the real thing and comes in both classic & trendy patterns. Apply the paper to a smooth, painted wall or even over tile.
Best of all? You can peel it off and reposition if necessary.
They also make blank white rolls that you can paint or draw on to create your own designs - so cute in a kid's room!
